Am I Growing?

Updated: Apr 27, 2020

Have you ever been in a place where it felt like you just weren’t growing? You were going to church faithfully, going to bible study , even reading your bible every day but still felt the same. Or maybe there were people around you who started their Christian journey after you and it seems like they are flourishing making kingdom moves. Their progress has left you wondering what am I doing wrong? I’ve definitely been there and what I quickly realized is that everyone's on their

own spiritual journey.

It’s always easy to look at what someone else has or is doing and question your own progress. We often forget the small moments that God brings us through which has helped us become who we are now. In the bible I think about the Israelites when Moses was trying to lead them to the promised land. As long as they were moving and making progress they always felt good about what they were doing. But any time things got hard or challenging they quickly turned their attitude towards the negative.

I encourage you to have a flashback and remember all the things God brought you through. I believe by remembering where you started and realizing where you currently are will help you see that you truly have come a long way.

Exodus 16:1-3

16 Then all the Israelites left Elim. They reached the western Sinai desert,[a] between Elim and Mount Sinai, on the 15th day of the second month[b] after leaving Egypt. Then the whole community of Israelites began complaining again. They complained to Moses and Aaron in the desert. They said, “It would have been better if the Lord had just killed us in the land of Egypt. At least there we had plenty to eat. We had all the food we needed. But now you have brought us out here into this desert to make us all die from hunger.”
